First Step Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland is one of only a handful of specialist charities nationally that solely support men and boys who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and sexual violence. This is an exciting opportunity for a new CEO to take a small, impactful charity into its next stage of development by leading on our strategy for growth to further the aims of the charity
About the Charity
Established in 1997 by two survivors of childhood sexual abuse, over the last 26 years First Step has developed to offer a range of services to ensure that men and boys who have experienced sexual abuse can access the support they need to heal from their experiences. These services include emotional and practical support, counselling for adults and young people, survivor support and participation groups, a specialist prison counselling service and support for secondary survivors. In 2022/23 First Step supported over 250 men and boys and their supporters.
Our Ideal Candidate:
First Step is excited to receive applications from candidates with the appetite, courage and commitment to lead and deliver its vision, strategy and operations, and make a difference to the lives of men and boys affected by sexual abuse and violence.
Our CEO will be self-motivated with a strong track record of delivering services in the charity and or not for profit sector in a senior management position. We are looking for the right person who aligns with the charity’s culture and values who also has a strong passion in developing the organisation to realise its longer-term ambitions to reach more male survivors who need our services.
Working in a small charity, no two days are the same. The ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure and multi-task is important, but candidates do not need to be an expert in all areas.
Working alongside the board of trustees, staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries, candidates will be expected to utilise their skills, experience, and passion to create social impact and meaningful change, whilst maintaining a focus on securing funding, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.
Application Instructions: To apply for the role please download the recruitment pack and complete the application form and equal opportunities form and send to Mark Evans, Chair of the Board of Trustees at First Step firstname.lastname@example.org . For an informal discussion about the role please also contact Mark Evans.
