First Step is an organisation run for male survivors and their supporters of sexual abuse and rape.
We provide free confidential services to male survivors of sexual abuse and their supporters living in the city of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to enable survivors to make the “First Step” towards feeling less isolated through increased personal power to makes choices.
At the core of all “First Step” services is the principle that each individual has the right to respect, to be believed, and to an environment that is safe. It is a place where you can talk to someone who is not involved in your life; someone who has no preference concerning your decisions. First Step is not about telling you what to do or how to run your life, but it is about exploring your difficulties with another person.
This might mean you talk about past and present relationships. You may begin to turn your thoughts and feelings into actions that help you come to terms with your experiences and make new choices.
We have achieved the Quality Standards for Services Supporting Male Victims/Survivors of Sexual Violence.
